To our International Customers
When we
refer to a
USA
style or Euro style, we are only making reference to the color of the LED
clusters implemented on the Model 356 Taillights. Electrically speaking the
two variant styles of our Porsche 356 LED product are identical.
So while
“Euro” in our case refers to the LED colors used, it does not guarantee that
the LED Taillight is compatible with your European market Porsche 356.
Upon receipt
of a set of Model 356 High Intensity LED Taillights a customer in the United
Kingdom pointed out to us a difference in the taillight’s electrical system
between Porsche 356s supplied to the
U.S.
and those supplied to the
U.K.
and perhaps other counties as well.
A United
States specification 356 uses a ‘2-wire’ taillight system in which brake and
tail light power are on two different wires. The turn signal function is
implemented by toggling the power to the brake light wire on and off.
United
Kingdom 356s employ both a single-filament bulb and a dual-filament
bulb in each taillight. This is a ‘3-wire system’ because tail, brake and
turn signal lighting functions are implemented on three different wires.
Our Model
356 High Intensity Taillight imitates a 2-wire taillight system using two clusters of LEDs in each
taillight housing, one 12-LED cluster in the smallest lighting compartment,
and one 24-LED cluster in the larger lighting compartment.
Our 356
product configuration matches the functionality of a small low-wattage
single-filament bulb in the smaller compartment which U.S. specification
356s use for the tail (running) light function and a larger higher-wattage
single filament bulb in the larger lighting compartment which U.S.
356s use for their combination brake and turn signal light.
We recommend
that customers outside the United States who are considering the purchase of
a Model 356 High Intensity Taillight System check their 356s as our High
Intensity LED Taillight System is not compatible with a 3-wire electrical
system.
To check for
a 3-wire system remove the taillight lens from either the passenger or
driver’s side taillight, then remove and examine both the incandescent
taillight bulbs. If either bulb is a dual-filament bulb, our product will
regrettably not work for you.

If you have
already ordered a taillight and you find you have a 3-wire taillight system
let us know and we will issue you a full refund.
While we
want to make a light compatible with the 3-wire systems, the mechanical
complexity of a making a contact leg that can carry two unique conductors
between our circuit board to the dual filament socket and align correctly
with any possible rotation of the BA15D socket is beyond our current
capabilities.
We sincerely
regret any inconvenience this causes.
